May 14th: Mr. Tom Driberg asked ttle Minister of Health if, in view of the social and economic disabilities suffered by the children of those who have been Certified insane, he will take steps to Provide for the formal annulment of ?Uch certification when found to have een based on an erroneous diagnosis. The Minister refused, but following a !^PPlementary question from Mr. uriberg said that if he had any particular case in mind he would be very aPPy to consider it. Sir Leslie Plummer asked the Minister Health how many psychiatric social porkers were on the staff of Rampton ^Pital and was told: "One". The Minister stated that he had ^Proved a second post which would be ed as soon as possible, and comer,ted that: "The numbers of trained sYchiatric social workers in posts are 8o'ng up annually at a considerable rate." th Veslie Plummer then asked whether ? Minister was aware that since before ^"ristmas to the middle of March there been no psychiatric social worker ^Ployed at Rampton at all. ?May 31st: Mr. George Brown asked Secretary of State for the Home oePartrnent whether he were aware of e general disquiet among people sPonsible for the children's services in representations H.M. Government had received in the matter. Mr. R. A. Butler replied that direct representations about the reorganisation of the child care service in the Greater London area had come mostly from the L.C.C. and its staff and that their views and the concern expressed by others had been considered by the Government.
